Here you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions and problems regarding the Stitchies app.

Since we currently receive a lot of inquiries, we ask you to read the FAQ first and only write to us if your problem does not appear here. Thank you for your understanding!

How can I specify my year of birth when registering without having to scroll through the months?

In the top left corner of the window you can see the currently selected year. Tap this to open a dialog to select your year of birth.

The registration form does not accept my password.

To protect your account effectively, it is important that you use a password that is as secure as possible. Therefore, when registering, you must choose a password that is at least eight characters long and meets at least two of the following characteristics:

  • contains upper case letters
  • contains lowercase letters
  • contains special characters

With a password that meets these criteria, the registration should work.

When I click the activation link for my account, I get an error that this is not a valid link.

On some (especially older) Android devices, there is a bug in the pre-installed email app that causes the activation link to be truncated. The correct activation link always starts with “https://”. Please check if this is the case for you and correct the link in the address bar of your browser if it is not. Alternatively, you can enter the activation code contained in the email in the app to activate your account.

I would like to change my username. Is that possible?

Yes, in the app settings you will find the menu item “Change username” under “Your user account”.
Please note that you can only change your username once within three months for security reasons. When changing your username, make sure that you have entered it correctly (without typing errors).

Errors occur in the app, the app hangs or crashes. What should I do?

We test the app and all its features on many different devices and all popular Android versions. However, since every device type is a bit different and countless Android devices from different manufacturers are in circulation, it is simply impossible to test the app on all devices. Consequently, bugs and even crashes can never be completely ruled out.

If you encounter any problems, please contact us via our contact form in English or German language.
We need your help to solve the problem as soon as possible:

  • Please provide us with your username and the email address of your Stitchies account.
  • Please tell us exactly what you were trying to do with the app when the error occurred.
  • Also, tell us what kind of device you are using (manufacturer and models) and what version of Android you are running. You can find this information in the settings of your smartphone (not in those of the app) under “About phone/tablet” > (version information >) Android version.
  • If necessary, we ask you to send us an error report. You can find the necessary menu item in the app settings under “Info and help” > “Send error report”.
  • If the app crashes completely on your smartphone and you are asked if you want to send a bug report, please send it with all possible information.

Errors occur in the app, the app hangs or crashes. I am an impatient person, is there anything I can do to help myself?

As just mentioned, we’re always happy to help you solve any app-related issues. If you still want to try helping yourself first, we have two tips that can handle most errors:

  1. Disable Android’s battery optimization for the Stitchies app. Often this is responsible for errors that occur (especially if you are using a HUAWEI device). Please read this article.
  2. You can find the menu item “Fix database issues” in the settings menu of the app under “Info and help”. This can help to solve many problems.
  3. If this does not work, you can try to reinstall the app. Simply uninstall it and then install it again via the Google PlayStore. After that, you have to log in to the app again.

Will the Stitchies app also be available for iOS?

Yes, we already work on the version for Apple devices.

I really like this project. Is there anything I can do to contribute?

Yes, you can become a Stitchies supporter. You can find out how to do this in the Stitchies app by clicking on the “You and Stitchies” entry in the main menu.

How can I delete my Stitchies account?

Open the Stitchies app and tap the wrench icon to get to the settings menu. There, in the “Your user account” section, you will find the “Delete user account” option.

My problem is not listed here. What can I do?
